Serving residents of Kent, Sharon, Salisbury, Falls Village, North Canaan, and Cornwall.
Formed in 2010, the Northwest Prevention Network (NCPN) is a group of dedicated volunteers who seek to end underage drinking and drug use in the Region One School District. Members include representatives from agencies, businesses, schools, prevention professionals, churches, law enforcement, students, and parents. This group meets monthly to discuss and develop new programs and opportunities to promote community education and increase public awareness of their mission.
Below is just a sampling of the Region One community events that the NCPN participates in and sponsors:
- Bi-annual National Drug Take Back Day
- National Red Ribbon Week
- Community educational programs, such as Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Training, Narcan trainings, and prevention awareness
- Several local community events, such as Railroad Day in Canaan and a Summer Concert Ice Cream Social in partnership with Sharon Parks and Recreation
- Housatonic Valley Regional High School Project Graduation
- Support for pro-social activities with community partners, like Adventure Recovery, Connecticut Association of Prevention Partners, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) and Housatonic Youth Service Bureau
